ManuelAntonio.net: The Premier Manuel Antonio Guide
Manuel Antonio is a beach, a town and a Costa Rican National Park. Situated on the Pacific Coast about 40 miles due south of San Jose (via air, it's longer by car), Manuel Antonio is considered to be one of the nicest beach areas in Costa Rica. That is proven by the 100,000+ annual visitors to the area. Incredible wildlife, fantastic beaches, great food, nice people and ocean sunset views all combine to make Manuel Antonio a must-see for any traveler.
In terms of tours and activities, Manuel Antonio is not lacking. You could spend weeks in the area if you wanted to sample everything it has to offer. From hiking to jetskiing to canopy tours, it's pretty much all here. Other top activities include off-shore deep sea fishing, scuba diving, surf lessons and ATV tours. Or you can just keep it simple and hit up the beautiful beaches for a day of relaxation and sun. That's a picture of the world-famous Playa Espadilla on the right.
Manuel Antonio offers a host of world-class accommodations that are right up there with the standards you've come to expect in the United States, Europe and elsewhere. While parts of Costa Rica are not yet brought up to Western standards (such as the road system), Manuel Antonio has adapted to cater to high-end travelers. We personally love the Pacifico Colonial building and we recommend it as a top place to stay, but there are many other options as well. The view shown in the picture on the left was taken at Pacifico Colonial.
Take a look around our site and we think you'll agree that Manuel Antonio is a great place to visit. See you there.
Getting to Manuel Antonio
There are two ways to get to Manuel Antonio: drive or fly. Driving is, surprisingly, relatively easy. The whole drive from the San Jose airport only consists of a few turns - driving directions here. But the drive will take you three or more hours. Flying is only 15 minutes to Quepos, but you'll have to brave a small plane and you'll only be able to take limited luggage with you. From there, you can take a short cab ride to Manuel Antonio.
